B & E Boys aim to have an active involvement in the local community and within the communities where we work is a major part of Boys’ ethos. To this end, we are always keen to support any employees who engage with local charities and community groups. It’s not only a great way to boost employee satisfaction, it benefits the wider community too.
We like to get involved and support our local community wherever we can. One such example is with Rossendale Rays Special Needs Swimming Club. Rossy Rays provide swimming and other sporting activities for any local families with special needs. They are based at Marl Pits Swimming Pool, Rawtenstall. The opportunities the club provides for its special needs members and their families are valuable and the Rossy Rays community is a thriving one that they should be rightly proud of.
Last year, Rossy Rays embarked on a bike ride to celebrate their 10th anniversary. B & E Boys were pleased to sponsor Rossy Rays as they took on the challenge of the gruelling Pass Of The Castle on the Applecross Peninsula in North West Scotland.
This year the Rossy Rays team of Anil Joshi, Eric Howard, Liam Spencer, Aaron Lord, Steve Wright, Geoff Senior, Lee Kershaw, Dave Willitts, and Paul Mulderrig will be taking on another bike riding challenge.
For 2017, the team will be attacking the Lakeland Fells on their bikes. Last year’s Scottish ride saw the team climb 10,000 feet. This year’s ride, taking place from 8th May to 14th May, is even more challenging. Aptly, Rossy Rays have chosen the slogan ‘Cranking It Up To 11!’ for their forthcoming adventure.
Rossendale Rays Special Needs Sports Club is an important local charity which provides fantastic activities for any local families with special needs, but the running costs of keeping the club going and keeping their members swimming are not cheap.
The club needs to raise £12,000 a year, which is why we are pleased to support and promote the Rossy Rays Charity Bike Ride again this year.
£60 pays for swimming coaches for a week and every little helps the club to keep up its great work in the local community.

We wish the Rossy Rays team all the best for the bike ride!
